Dear Friends, Travelers and Clients!
Thank you very much for choosing Machupicchu Travel Experience! The Peruvian system of services and products sometimes differs from your country of origin. We strongly recommend that you carefully read the following:
Travel in Peru: Machupicchu Travel Experience operates in regions where accommodation standards may vary. Transportation and services may not be like what you would normally get in your home country. However, we strive with due care and skill to provide the best service to our customers. Traveling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, open-mindedness, good humor and the understanding that changes can be made without notice due to circumstances or events beyond our control, for example a strike, protest, landslide, bad weather. , etc. (Force Majeure ) . By booking any of our tours and hikes, you agree to allow Machupicchu Travel Experience to make the necessary changes without liability.
FORCE MAJEURE
Force majeure is any event that Machupicchu Travel Experience cannot even with due care foresee, control or avoid. This covers events such as war or threat of war, riots, civil strikes, terrorist activities, labor disputes, disease, natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, fire, or all similar events beyond our control. In this case, Machupicchu Travel Experience will not accept responsibility and reserves the right to change, postpone or even cancel the trips. (this is a last option of course!)
Incremental charge in case of protests or strikes (Force Majeure)
In the event of a protest or strike (which is not uncommon in Cusco) it may be necessary to leave a day or even two days earlier than scheduled so that we can fulfill other services. In this case there may be an additional charge, depending on the situation.
RISKS
By booking any of our adventure trips (Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Lares, Salkantay, Ausangate, Choquequirao, Vilcabamba trek and more) you assume the risks associated with personal accidents, medical emergencies, air travel problems, etc. For these treks, Machupicchu Travel Experience Peru Agency does not accept any responsibility.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance that covers accidents, medical expenses (including rescue and air ambulance) and emergency repatriation. We also recommend that you cover cancellations and lost luggage. You can use a travel insurance comparison website to search and compare more than 250 travel insurance plans to find the best policy that best suits your needs.
Once you have purchased travel insurance, please email a copy of the insurance company name and policy number or bring the information with you when you come to our office.
INCREASES DUE TO HOLIDAYS OR ELECTIONS
An additional charge of $35 USD per person applies for all treks (regardless of group/private option/group size) beginning on any of the following dates:
Christmas (December 22, 23, 24, 25)
New Year (December 29, 30, 31, January 1).
An additional charge also applies if a walk departs on election days. (Peruvians are fined if they don’t vote)
***We use the extra charge to pay staff a bonus for working over vacations or to pay penalties for not voting.
SENDING YOUR PRIMARY DEPARTURE DATE AND BACKUP DATE
By providing us with a primary date and a secondary date for your trek (Classic Inca Trail, Lares, Salkantay, Machu Picchu Tour, Choquequirao, etc.), you automatically authorize Machupicchu Travel Experience to use any of those dates for your reservation. After we have received your booking form and confirmed that your deposit was made successfully. Machupicchu Travel Experience will send you the final reconfirmation by email, also to reconfirm the exact departure date of your trek. You should receive the reconfirmation email within 48 hours.
SEND US YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS FOR THE RESERVATION
Your passport number and other personal information must be valid. Please let us know immediately if your passport number changes after you book your tour. This is especially important to book any trek or tour to Machu Picchu.
STUDENT DISCOUNT
According to Peruvian law, you must be under 18 years of age at the time of your trek, tour or visit to Machu Picchu (students over 18 years of age need ISIC cards). For example, if you book a hike at the age of 17 but turn 18 before you do it, you don’t qualify for a student discount.
All students from 12 to 17 years old, the discount is $30.
For children from 2 to 12 years the discount is $40.
For children from 0 to 2 years are free.
All students must provide a copy of their passport at the time of booking to get the student discount.

MAKE A RESERVATION AND PAY YOUR DEPOSIT:
1.- To make a reservation for a Tour & Trek with Machupicchu Travel Experience, the client must make a deposit of US$200, the deposit can be sent through PayPal or VISA, which will incur a 5.5% PayPal or merchant visa rate paid by the traveler. This deposit is non-refundable. When making a reservation, regardless of the reservation method, Machupicchu Travel Experience assumes that the client has read the Terms and Conditions.
2.- The reservation order becomes definitive on the date that Machupicchu Travel Experience receives the client’s deposit. Once the deposit is received, a binding contract is established between the client and Machupicchu Travel Experience.
3.- All the people named in the reservation order commit to the contract with Machupicchu Travel Experience. The person who signs the contract is considered to have the permission of all the people whose names are on the reservation order and verifies that all these people know and accept the Terms and Conditions of Machupicchu Travel Experience.
4.- We require a non-refundable deposit (as mentioned above) along with your personal details (full name, passport number, gender, nationality and date of birth) at the time of booking.
FINAL PAYMENT TERMS:
The remaining balance will be paid at our office in Cusco at least 2 days before the start date of your tour. However, it can also be paid in advance via PayPal or VISA with a commercial fee of 5.5 percent paid by the traveler. Please notify us if you pay with Paypal or Visa. In our office we accept US and Peruvian currency of any denomination. We do not accept broken bills. If you do not arrive in Cusco 2 days before your tour begins, please arrange your payment with the Machupicchu Travel Experience team before your arrival.
CANCELLATION POLICY FOR TREKS & TOURS:
Notification: Notification of cancellation must always be made in writing by the person who made the reservation and paid the deposit to info@mtexpeditions.com.
Deposits: Our policy for our deposits for our hikes and tours is that they are 100% non-refundable. There are no exceptions due to the fact that Machupicchu Travel Experience spends a large amount of expenses in the purchase of permits, entrance tickets and deposits for reservations or services, most of which are non-changeable, transferable and non-refundable by the government. regulation.
Cancellation fees
If you cancel eight weeks or more before your departure date: The cancellation fee is equal to the amount of your deposit.
If you cancel eight weeks to 4 weeks before your departure date: 60 percent of the total price of the tour or trek is due.
If you cancel four weeks to five days before your departure date: 80 percent of the total price of the tour or trek must be paid.
If you cancel from five days to 48 hours before your departure date: 90 percent of the total price of the tour or trek must be paid.
If you cancel less than 48 hours before your departure date: 100 percent of the total price of the tour or trek must be paid.
Cancellation of a trek during the trek is 100% non-refundable unless it is determined that Machupicchu Travel Experience was at fault.
CHANGES MADE BY THE CUSTOMER
The person who signs the reservation order is the only person who can make changes to the Tour, trek or any trip. A $35 USD order fee is charged to make any changes. Although every effort will be made to make any requested changes, they are not guaranteed and there may be additional costs associated with these changes.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR THE INCA TRAIL, PERMITS ARE NON-CHANGEABLE, NON-TRANSFERABLE AND NON-REFUNDABLE. DATES CAN NEVER BE CHANGED DUE TO GOVERNMENT POLICIES.
CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS BY Machupicchu Travel Experience
We always do our best to carry out the tours/services according to the original times listed in the booking order. However, by entering into this agreement with Machupicchu Travel Experience, the client agrees that necessary changes may need to be made to a tour, trek, or any trip, due to prevailing conditions (see ‘Force Majeure’ section above). .
Machupicchu Travel Experience reserves the right to change or cancel any facility, service and replace it with a reasonable alternative of comparable value.
In the event of a major change, the customer will be notified as soon as possible. The customer will have options as to whether to accept the change.
VERY IMPORTANT:
1. We strongly recommend spending time at high altitude (above 3,000 meters / 9,842 feet) in Cusco or another high-altitude area for a minimum of 2-4 days before embarking on your trip. This is to minimize the possible effects of altitude sickness. Drinking plenty of fluids, adding sugar to your beverages, eating carbohydrate-rich foods, avoiding cigarettes, alcohol, and drinking coca (ancient traditional leaf) tea will help your body acclimatize much faster. Diamox can also be helpful; Consult your doctor. about the purchase of any medication before traveling.
VERY IMPORTANT:
2. We recommend that you arrive in Cusco 48 hours or more before the departure of the trek because occasionally we need to leave earlier than scheduled in case of strikes or other events beyond our control (see ‘Force Majeure’ section above).
ABOUT THE REPORT:
The night before your hike, there will be a pre-walk talk (briefing) in our office at 6:00 p.m. m. or at 7:00 p.m. m. (Exact time will be confirmed upon arrival or by email) A duffel bag will be provided for you, if you have paid for a sleeping bag it will be delivered at this time.
